Beatrice Ann Schafer, 91, of Martinsburg, passed away at 3:26 A.M., Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at the Audrain Medical Center in Mexico, Missouri.
Visitation will be held from 3:00-5:00 P.M., with a Prayer Service at 5:00 P.M., Sunday, December 8th at the Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville.
A Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday, December 9th at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Martinsburg. Father Greg Oligschlaeger will officiate. Serving as organist will be Ruth Wilson.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, south of Martinsburg. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Christopher Robnett, Matthew Robnett, Eric Schafer, Jeffrey Schafer, Joel Schafer, Josh Schafer, Michael Schafer and Patrick Schafer.
Mrs. Schafer was born September 2, 1922, in Flint Hill, Missouri, a daughter of John Henry and Theresa Elizabeth Schulte Brinker.
On April 8, 1947, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Martinsburg, she married Paul Charles Schafer. They shared 63 wonderful years together and were blessed with 6 children before he preceded her in death on September 23, 2010.
Beatrice was a homemaker. She had lived at her present address since 1983 but in the Martinsburg area since she was 5. Beatrice and Paul lived on a farm 4 miles west of Martinsburg for many years.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Martinsburg as well as the Ladies Sodality. Beatrice had volunteered at St. Joseph Catholic School in the library. Beatrice was a former member of the Martinsburg Farm Club. She had previously volunteered at Audrain Medical Center in Mexico where she was a pink lady.
Beatrice enjoyed quilting and crocheting.
Beatrice is survived by her six children and their spouses, James Paul "Jim" and Jayne Schafer, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Jean Marie and Bill Robnett, of Mexico, Charles John "Charlie" and Cathy Schafer, Richard Joseph and Jan Schafer, and William Wayne "Bill" and Michelle Schafer, all of Martinsburg and Gregory Patrick "Greg" and Pattie Schafer, of Ballwin; twelve grandchildren, Michael Schafer, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Christopher and Jamie Robnett, of Quincy, Illinois, Matthew Robnett, of New Orleans, Louisiana, Leighanne and Zach Lamb, of Columbia, Laura and Cort Smith, of St. Charles, Joel Schafer, of Chicago, Eric and Sara Schafer, of Columbia, Jeffrey and Charlea Schafer, of Auxvasse, Kimberly and Jeff Curtis, of Blue Springs, Ashley Schafer and Josh Schafer, both of Martinsburg and Patrick Schafer, of Ballwin; seven great-grandchildren, Mia, Audrey and Curtis Robnett, of Quincy, Illinois, Grayson and Jensen Lamb, of Columbia and Peyton and Carter Schafer, of Auxvasse; in addition to nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul Charles Schafer; six brothers, Leslie Brinker, Alfred Brinker, Vincent Brinker, Elroy Brinker, John Brinker and Ulrich Brinker and sister, Bernice Koehr.
