Kenneth "Jack" Rollen Rivers, Jr., 84 of Renick, formerly of Kansas City, passed away at 11:15 p.m. Friday, December 6, 2013 in Renick.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. today at Arnold Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Ostrom officiating. Visitation was today from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial was in East Lawn Memorial Park.
Kenneth was born Dec. 16, 1928 in Mexico, the son of Kenneth R. Rivers, Sr. and Anna Viola (Jones) Rivers. On May 29, 1952 in Mexico, he married Betty Jean Albright. She died on Jan. 20, 2008.
Mr. Rivers was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in WWII and the Korean War. He worked for the Bendix Corporation, retiring in 1990 after 40 years of service. Jack collected stamps and guns. He loved his puzzles and genealogy.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Yvonne Rivers and Linda Gutierrez, both of Independence; one son, Kenneth Rivers III of Kansas City; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; his niece and caregiver, Shirley Beamer and husband, Bob of Renick; one brother, William Rivers and wife, Wanda of Oklahoma; and one sister, Mildred Martin of Mexico.
In addition to his wife, Betty, Kenneth was preceded in death by one daughter, Connie Rivers; one great-granddaughter, Harley Phelps; two brothers, Robert and James Rivers; and one sister, Dorothy Sullivan.
