Paris improves team record
The Paris Coyotes boys basketball team improved to 2-4 (1-0 LCC) Wednesday with a 64-47 win over the Slater Wildcats.
"The boys came out and jumped on Slater early," Paris coach Wade Billington said. "We had multiple players in double figures and played at a much higher pace. I think the faster pace is going to suit this team much better and we should do nothing but improve."
The Coyotes jumped out early, leading the Wildcats 16-2 by the end of the first quarter. The Coyotes used an 18 point second quarter to extend their lead to 33-12 at the half, adding 19 points in the third quarter and 11 in the fourth to secure the victory.
Slater Stone shot 78 percent from the field to lead the Coyotes in scoring with 14 points. Stone also contributed eight rebounds for the Coyotes. Zane Lockhart had a similarly impressive night, scoring 13 points on 67 percent shooting while recording nine rebounds of his own. August Hayhurst and Matt Utterbrink also shot 67 percent from the field, adding ten points each. Brant Francis scored 10 points and added four rebounds and Laine Forrest rounded out the Coyotes' scoring with seven points.
The Coyotes return to the court Friday in Salisbury.
