Bulldogs pin Pirates

The MHS Bulldogs wrestling team grappled the Hannibal Pirates on Wednesday and came away a winner with a 36-35 team score win.
"The team is really coming together," said Coach Gayle Adams. "It was great win for the team."
Varsity had three wrestlers record outright wins. Ethan Musgrove (152) won by pin at the 2:28 mark. Payton Turner (182) won by pin at the 2:29 mark. Anthony Brower (195) won by pin at the 2:22 mark.
In junior varsity action, Allek Adams (182) and Gabe Diemeke (heavyweight) both won via pinfall against their respective opponents.
"All of our guys are working hard," said Adams. "They are really showing a never quit attitude."
Adams points to one match in the meet as an example of the 'never quit' attitude of this year's squad.
Mexico's Jaylen Lee (220) wrestled Hannibal's Kyle Muehring to a 4-1 decision loss.
Muehring is currently ranked first in the state for Class 3 and last year placed foruth overall in state competition. " He (Jaylen) wrestled a great match," said Adams. "He stayed in position and really frustrated his opponent. He never quit."
The MHS Bulldogs varsity matmen will wrestle in a two day tournament in St. Charles Friday and Saturday. The junior varsity wrestle in Moberly on Saturday.
