Sheriff warns of fraud in the county

Residents have reported that a man is traveling around the county contacting mostly farmers claiming to represent a company that advertises in the Farm Journal and/or purports himself to be a representative of the Farm Journal. The man drives a dark colored Chevrolet S10 pickup with Illinois license plates.
When residents are contacted the man inquires about the people that are in the home; usually he asks if the husband is home if a woman opens the door or he asks if the wife is home if a man opens the door. The man calls the resident by name when he stops by their home.
The man said that he wanted to do an interview of the residents about farming, cancer, and other personal information.
Through the investigation by the sheriff's department it has determined the man is not affiliated with the Farm Journal and presently do not know who he represents or what he is trying to accomplish.
