Bulldogs lose 1-0

Losing 1-0 hurts. Losing 1-0 because your team commits three errors in an inning to allow an unearned run to score hurts worse. This was the case last night when the MHS Bulldogs fell to the Fulton Hornets 1-0.
Both schools had their ace pitcher on the mound; both pitchers were in the zone and throwing well.
The Bulldogs, however, would commit three errors in the second inning, allowing an unearned run across the plate, and that was all it took for the Hornets to win.
Cody Creed got the nod for MHS and took the loss. Creed threw six strong innings of work, striking out 10, walking one and giving up two hits that scored the one run.
Dalton Horstmeier threw a complete game for the Hornets, all seven innings, striking out eleven, walking one and allowing three hits.
Gavin Jones (1-1), Austyn Sampo (1-2) and Creed  (1-3) would each lay claim to a hit for the Bulldogs. MHS would strand three runners on base.
“The game had a rough feel to it, but it was actually a good game,” said MHS Coach Keith Louder. “Except for that lack of focus, that lack of defense in the second, and it cost us the game.”
The Bulldogs will have no rest as they are back on the road tonight against Moberly. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
