  • WEST SENECA, Okla. — The Sunday rain didn’t damper the cause of more than 200 motorcycle riders participating in the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) Ride For Life.
The two-day event started on Saturday with live music, food and concessions at the Hideout Harley-Davidson business in Joplin. Then on Sunday, the riders took off on their ride at 1 p.m. from the Hideout and ended up at Indigo Sky Casino shortly after 2:30 p.m.
“We (raised) $28,000, so we were really excited, especially with the rain,” said Lacey Goins, area director for MDA. “We could not ask for better riders, our riders are great, and they ride for the cause – rain or shine – that is pretty impressive.”
This year marks the 30th year for the ride.
“There are several events and several rides, but a ride for 30 years, it just speaks a lot about the great riders that we have, the great sponsors that we have and the great families that they help,” she said.
When the riders got to the casino, they had free play given to them and then there was a steak and shrimp dinner.
The money raised will go to a great cause.
“It will be for all of our local families, local clinic in the area – Mercy, for sending kids to summer camp,” said Goins.
