  • The Mexico Young Farmers held their ninth annual Truck and Tractor Pull June 14 at the Audrain County 4-H Fairgrounds in Mexico. The event featured action on two tracks in 11 different divisions sanctioned by X-caliber Pulling and the Illinois Tractor Pulling Association (ITPA).
    Proceeds go to the Mexico Young Farmers, Young Farmers’ Scholarship Fund, Mexico FFA, Audrain County Cattlemen's Association and the Audrain County 4-H.
    The event drew fans from all over Missouri and several surrounding states. Organizers estimate, including paid admission and those under 12 who were admitted free, that more than 3,000 people attended the event.
    The event included several drivers from the Ledgerland coverage area.
    In the Mod 2 (Modified two wheel truck) division, Richard Nichols (Centralia) took first place behind the wheel of ‘Simple Physics’ with a pull of 305’6. Tim Sprock (Vandalia) finished in third and fourth place with his two entries: ‘T Time’ (298’11) and ‘Country Fever’ (297’07). Bob Sieger (Auxvasse) drove ‘Midnight Mistress’ to a fifth place finish (294’06).
    In the 8500 Limited Pro-stock Tractor division, Chris Geisker (Martinsburg) took seventh aboard his Case IH MXM 190 with a pull of 297’05. Dustin Zumbhel (Martinsburg) piloted ‘Pure Country’ to thirteenth with a pull of 272’02.
    In the 4.1 Limited Pro-Stock Tractors division, Chad Bruns (Thompson) grabbed second aboard ‘Strokin Motion’ with a pull of 326’01 and also ended up in fifth using ‘Sod Buster’ and a pull of 317’08. Tony Wortmann (Montgomery City) took ‘Tapped Out’ to fourth with a pull of 317’09.
    In the Extreme Superstock Tractors division, Justin Edwards (Paris) drove 'Fire Water' to third with 295'09 pull.
