  • Little Dixie responds to structure fire Tuesday

  • At 5:51 p.m. Tuesday, Little Dixie Fire Protection District Station 3 was dispatched to a reported structure fire in the 5000 block of ACR 247, Centralia. Owners of the property are Mike and Wendy Hardman. First arriving units found a 30X50 metal building full of fireworks fully engulfed in flames. The owner was at home at the time of the alarm and escaped with minor injuries and was transported by private vehicle to Audrain Medical Center.
    Fire crews prevented the fire from spreading to a nearby propane tank and to the owner’s house. The metal building was a total loss.
    The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time. It is being investigated by Little Dixie Fire Protection District investigators and assisted by the Missouri State Fire Marshal’s office.
    Little Dixie Fire Protection District Stations 1 and 4 were called for assistance along with the Centralia Fire Department and the Boone County Fire Protection District.
    A total of four pieces of fire apparatus and total of 30 firefighters responded.
    Little Dixie was assisted on the scene by the Missouri State Fire Marshal’s office, Audrain County Sheriff, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
    The scene was cleared at 8:49 p.m.
