Football is in the air
Can you hear it? Can you see it? It's getting closer.
The bark of the quarterback's voice as he calls out a play at the line of scrimmage. The grunts of effort combined with the pop of pads as linemen collide. A running back catches the pitch, makes a cut up the field, eludes a defender and sprints toward the goal line.
Yes. The familiar sights and sounds of football are in the air.
The MHS Bulldogs summer camp is definitely on.
Forty high school students are participating in the week long summer football camp held at MHS. They will use the time for conditioning, installing the new offense and defense and general preparation for the upcoming season.
“This is the team's chance to really come together before we start fall practices Aug. 4,” said Bulldog Head Coach Steve Haag. “They are picking things up quickly.”
The Bulldogs will conclude camp Friday with a controlled scrimmage versus Southern Boone starting at 10 a.m. at Hawthorne Heights. The public is invited to attend.
