MHS softball's first game report.

It was not the start that Coach Keith Louder was hoping for.
The MHS Lady Bulldogs varsity softball team lost its season opening game Monday night against the Hannibal Lady Pirates, 17-4.
Hannibal scored 8 of their 17 runs in the first inning alone. Of the 17 total runs, only four were earned. MHS committed fielding eight errors.
“We made some mistakes early and they [Hannibal] scored,” said Louder. “If we had taken care of business, we would've been in a close game. But we didn't. We fought back, which was good to see. The good news is that we are going to play another game. We have a whole lot of season left.”
The Bulldogs had some offensive highlights.
In the second inning, Abby Dick drew a walk, promptly stole second and scored on Morgan Hall's RBI single.
Hall, who also promptly stole second, would later score when Sydnee Playter drew a bases loaded walk.
Later in the fourth inning, Playter hit a two out RBI double that scored Haley Test who beforehand had hit a single and stole second.
The Lady Bulldogs are on the road Tuesday tonight, playing the Marshall Lady Owls at 5 p.m.
