Mexico Parks and Recrea-tion Department held a singles tennis tournament at Fairgrounds Park on Saturday.
Results include: men's over 40 category: Jeff Wagner, Edwardsville, Ill., first with a record 3-0; Chuck Tillman, Mexico, second, 2-1; and Larry Bradshaw, Mexico, third, 1-1.
Men's 18-40: Alex Finck, Mexico, first, 3-0; Robert Tillman, second, 2-1; David Bradshaw, third (tie) 1-1; and Drew Hopkins, third (tie) 1-1. All are from Mexico.
Men's 17 and under category: Andy Weber, first, 3-0; Calvin Heintz, second, 2-1; and Jonah McKeown, third, 1-1.
There were no women entries.
A total of 18 men competed in the tournament. Medals were awarded to the top three winners in each category.
The Mexico Parks and Recreation horseshoe league competed Thursday at the Moose Lodge.
Results for singles include: Charlie Maupin, Mexico, 2-1, losing points 24; Eugene Freels, Auxvasse, 2-1, losing points 9; Dan Hubbard, Centralia, 2-1, losing points 6; and Patrick Shawn, Mexico, 0-3.
Doubles results include: game 1: Freels and Hubbard defeated Maupin and Shaw 25-13; game 2, Freels and Maupin defeated Hubbard and Shaw, 25-13; game 3, Hubbard and Maupin defeated Freels and Shaw 24-21; and game 4, Hubbard and Freels defeated Shaw and Maupin 25-8.
The league will resume play at 6 p.m. Thursday at Fairgrounds Park. New pitchers are always welcome. The league is free and open to any skill level.
