At 3:11 p.m. January 1, 2017, Little Dixie Fire Protection District Station 1 was dispatched to a natural cover fire in the 10000 block of Highway NN, Mexico at the Chris Cloven property.
First arriving units found heavy smoke and fire coming from approximately 5 acres of tall grass and brush.
According to Little Dixie Chief Ken Hoover, it appears the cause was from the owner burning trash and the fire spread to the west field. The fire spread to property owned by John Perry and Bob Johnson.
Firefighters were able to attack the head of the fire and brought it under control fairly quickly, according to Hoover.
Several large trees had to be cut down that were burning in the upper portion of the trees.
Little Dixie responded with two fire trucks and 15 firefighters.
There were no injuries.
