On Sunday, January 1, 2017, at approximately 3:56 p.m., Mexico Public Safety responded to Howell Manor Court in reference to a disturbance with one person being shot.
Responding personnel learned that Daryl E. Richardson, 22, of Mexico, was in a verbal argument with a Mexico man, and Richardson shot him as he walked away. The victim, Allen Williams, 21, of Mexico was taken to University Hospital in Columbia where he was treated for his injuries and released.
With the assistance of some alert citizens, MPSD arrested Richardson without incident a few minutes after the shooting, about four blocks away. Richardson was processed at MPSD and later transported to the Audrain County Jail for Assault 1st degree and Armed Criminal Action.
Citizens are reminded that people arrested / charged with a crime are simply accused of the crime and are to be considered innocent until proven guilty.
