A snow storm had slowed local governments, schools and businesses to a halt on this day three years ago.
Eight inches of snow had fallen on the area, in addition to ice that made many roads dangerous to drive, according to a front-page article in The Moberly Monitor-Index on Feb. 6, 2014.
Also on the front page three years ago today was news that the Moberly City Council had requested more information from Moberly Parks and Recreation Director Troy Bock before they would give approval to replace two air conditioning units on the roof of the Moberly Municipal Auditorium.
In other news, the Moberly Area Economic Development Corporation had confirmed that MFA Oil had purchased what was once going to be the Mamtek property. MFA Oil was in the planning stages for a new facility at the site of the failed sweetener plant, according to Monitor-Index reporting at the time.
