Flames spread to vacant mobile home
Little Dixie Fire Protection District Station 1 was dispatched to a natural cover fire on the Delbert Musgrove property in the 6000 block of Audrain Road 337, Mexico, Missouri at 12:50 p.m. Friday
First arriving units found heavy smoke and fire covering approximately two acres of grass and brush. The fire had burnt around a vacant mobile home.
The fire was spreading quickly over open pasture land and to neighboring property.
Firefighters attacked the fire with backpacks and rakes. The fire had spread to the mobile home and Little Dixie Station 3 was called to assist with a tanker and brush truck with personnel. Laddonia Fire was also called for a tanker.
The mobile home received heavy damage and several acres of property were burned.
According to Little Dixie Chief Ken Hoover, it appears the cause is the owner was burning trash that got out of control.
A total of 12 firefighters battled the fire. Two firefighters were treated on the scene for heat exhaustion by Audrain Ambulance District.
Little Dixie units cleared the scene at 14:49 p.m.
