Diggers, graders and other equipment can be seen at the Mexico Public Schools, as construction is well underway for additions to McMillan, Eugene Field elementary schools, and Mexico Middle School. MMS was the first school to begin construction with a groundbreaking ceremony earlier this year.

Construction has recently begun at McMillan and Eugene Field.

Storm shelters are being constructed at all three schools.

The shelters at Eugene Field will also be used as classrooms; MMS will use the shelter for a gymnasium; and McMillan's shelter will be use for preschool.

The outside construction is going on while school is in session. The interior work for the buildings will take place this summer while school is not in session. Completion is set before school begins again in August.

The additions and renovations are made possible by bonds that were approved by the voters in the April 5, 2016 election.
