Walter H. Kiburz, 93, of Kansas City area, formerly of Mexico, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at the Ray County Memorial Hospital in Richmond.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, April 22nd at Arnold Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Kukuk officiating. Visitation is Friday, April 21st 5:00-7:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Locust Grove Baptist Cemetery near Sturgeon.
Walter was born March 15, 1924 in St. Louis, the son of Walter H. and Helen (Kirn) Kiburz. He graduated from Cleveland High School and Missouri School of Mines (now University of Missouri at Rolla). On September 16, 1947, he married Marilyn L. Mathis in Columbia, joining a large and loving family. She preceded him in death on April 6, 2005.
Mr. Kiburz had worked for A.P. Green for 43 years, retiring in 1989. He held several positions including Mexico Plant Manager, supervised several U.S. Plants, and Manager, International Division. He was a very active, 50-year member of the First Presbyterian Church in Mexico, having served as an Elder, on its Building Committee and teaching Sunday School. He was active with the Boy Scouts and served on a District board for the Great Rivers Council. He embraced new experiences and traveled extensively with his wife.
Survivors include his three children, Teresa Callahan of Tallahassee, Florida, Catherine Caballero of Kansas City, and Jim Kiburz of Naperville, Illinois; six grandchildren, Kaitlin and Connor Kiburz, Kellen and Kenzie Callahan, Miguel and Pablo Caballero; and two great-granddaughters, Lillian and Caroline Callahan. Also surviving is his sister-in-law, Betty (Mathis) Bradley of Columbia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
