Kathleen Ann Fecht, 92, died Monday, June 5, 2017 at the Villages of Jackson Creek in Independence, MO,

Katie was born on January 9th, 1925, in Martinsburg, Mo.  She was the daughter of Ed and Rose Mary (Winkelman) Farnen.  She loved her years in Martinsburg and was affectionately referred to as “Shorty” by her classmates and friends.

She married Carl Edward Fecht on April 22, 1950 and moved to Jefferson City, Missouri.  They enjoyed 25 very happy years of marriage until Carl’s death on August 14th, 1975.

Kathleen worked for many years for the Missouri Conservation Commission and retired in 1990.  She was a devoted member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jefferson City, Mo.  She loved to dance and play bridge and enjoyed vacations in Florida.  She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and cherished the time she spent with her family.  Family reunions and holidays together with her sisters’ and brother’s families gave Katie great joy.

Survivors include one daughter Carol Westerman and her husband Chris of Kansas City, Mo; three   granddaughters, Anne Kaminski and husband Tom of Chicago, IL, Sara Westerman of Kansas City, MO and Mary Westerman of Kansas City, MO;  sister-in-law Jane Farnen of Mexico, Mo, brother-in-law Arthur Grossglauser of Centralia, Mo and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband, Carl, Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters Rose Mary Sloan and Jean Bertels, both of Jefferson City and a brother Kevin Farnen of Mexico, MO.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church, Mexico, MO on Saturday, June 10th with Fr. Mark Porterfield officiating.  Visitation will precede the Mass from 10:00 to 11:00 at Arnold Funeral Home.  Burial will be in St. Brendan’s cemetery, Mexico, MO following the 11:00 am Mass.
