At the Mexico City Council meeting Monday night, council members voted on two resolutions with reading and passage.
The first Resolution was to authorize City Manager Bruce Slagle to enter into an agreement with Insituform Technologies USA, LLC for liner placement in various pipes. The contract price of the project is $238,837.50. The difference between the budget amount and the contract price will be made up by adjusting other line items in the wastewater capital improvement budget. The 2016-17 budget allows for $200,000 for the cast in place pipe (CIPP) project.
Councilman Ron Loesch asked when the project would begin. Kinsey Russell, public works director/city engineer said Insituform is ready to start as soon as the documents are signed. It will take three weeks to manufacture the liner and two to three weeks to do the work. Loesch also asked how much smaller will the pipes be once the liner is in place. Russell said it depends on the size of the pipe. "An 18-inch pipe will be down to 17 inches," Russell explained.
Russell also said this will extend the life of the pipe for about 50 years.
Councilman Steve Nichols asked if there would be a video to show the work once it is finished. "Yes, we have videos of what it looks like today, so we can do a before and after," said Russell.
The second Resolution passed by the council authorizes Slagle to sign contract documents with Plan B Development for the Fairgrounds Park Stormwater Project. Chad Shoemaker, Parks and Recreation director, explained that the project was advertised for bids and also mailed to 28 contractors. Plan B Development of Mexico submitted the best and low bid in the amount of $16,265. The 2016-17 annual budget allows $107,000 for the Fairgrounds Park Shelter Replacement Project and the stormwater project is the first phase. Other bids received were B&P Patterson LLC, Linn, $24,750; Donaldson Excavating LLC, $19,516.14; Mick Mehler and Sons Inc., Silex, $31,733; and S&A Equipment and Builders, Fulton, $16,870.
With no further business the meeting was adjourned.
