Orville Wayne Morris, 92, of Auxvasse, died at 3 pm, Sunday July 23, 2017, at Gamma Road Lodge in Wellsville, MO.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday July 26, 2017, at Grand Prairie Baptist Church in Auxvasse. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at the Auxvasse Cemetery with Military Honors. Pickering Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Orville was born February 22, 1925, in Jonesburg, MO, the son of Olin Morris and Ruth (Hunter) Morris. Orville married Betty Barnett in November 1975. She survives at the home.

Orville grew up in the Vandalia and Jonesburg area. In 1943 he joined the Navy to serve his country. When his military career ended, in 1946 he started working at Bank of Overland in the maintenance department. When he retired in 1985, he was the President of the Charter Banks of Overland.

Upon retirement Orville and Betty moved to Arkansas then to Arizona. Later they decided to travel the country in a camper. After traveling for a few years they decided to settle back in Arkansas where Orville became a Deacon in the Baptist church.

In 2007 Orville and Betty decided to relocate to Auxvasse, MO where they currently reside.

Orville is survived by his wife Betty of the home; three sons, Gary Morris (Poplar Bluff), Steve Morris (Poplar Bluff), Kevin Morris (Azil, TX), one daughter, Jackie Rogers (Auxvasse), two sisters, Vivian Wirt (Texas), Peggy Hart (Illinois), numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.

Orville was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Kenneth Morris (Vandalia), and two sons Greg Rogers (West Plains), and David Rogers (Slinger, WI).

The three most important things in Orvilles’ life were Family, GOD, and his Country.
