MoDNR awards $37,973 to city of Lake Lotawana to evaluate wastewater treatment upgrades

JEFFERSON CITY, MO. – The Missouri Department of Natural Resources has awarded a $37,973 Small Community Engineering Assistance Program grant to the city of Lake Lotawana to evaluate wastewater treatment upgrades and collection system repairs.

The city will use the grant funds to develop a facility plan to evaluate inflow and infiltration problems in the collection system, and for planning purposes, to evaluate how the wastewater system will respond to potential future requirements. The facility plan is estimated to cost $47,467 and is expected to be completed in Spring 2019.

The Department of Natural Resources is committed to working with communities to assist with water and wastewater infrastructure improvement projects.  The department’s Water Protection Financial Assistance Center assists with funding for communities with water quality, wastewater and drinking water infrastructure needs.

 

Missouri State Museum offers interactive learning programs during August

JEFFERSON CITY, MO. – The Missouri State Museum will offer a fun twist for its summer programming during August with interactive programs for all ages. The programs will be held in the State Capitol and are free to the public.

Learning@11 is a series of interactive programs exploring various aspects of Missouri’s cultural and natural history and are specifically focused on age groups four to seven. The activity-based programs will be held from 11 to 11:45 a.m. on Tuesdays in August. Dates and program themes are listed below:

Aug. 1 – Eads Bridge

Aug. 8 – Mark Twain

Aug. 15 – Eclipse and More 

Tuesdays@2 are similar activity-based programs focused on age groups 8 to 12 years of age. The dates and program themes will be the same as the Learning@11 but the programs will be held from 2 to 2:45 p.m. on Tuesdays.
