Game Times Set for Two More Mizzou Football September Games
Sept. 2 Opener with Missouri State at 11 a.m.; Week Three with Purdue at 3 p.m.
COLUMBIA, Mo. – The much-anticipated 2017 Mizzou Football season is fast approaching, and Tiger fans can now finalize their plans to watch the early-season action, as game times have been established for the first three weeks by the Southeastern Conference and its television partners.
Mizzou will begin year two of the Coach Barry Odom era with an 11 a.m. (central time) kick against Missouri State and former longtime MU assistant Dave Steckel on Sept. 2, with the game televised on the SEC Network. That will mark the first in a rare four-straight home game stretch for the Tigers, who will play all four September contests in the friendly confines of Memorial Stadium/Faurot Field. Game two on Sept. 9 against South Carolina had previously been established as a 6 p.m. kick on ESPN2.
Week three will see Mizzou step out of conference again, as it hosts the Purdue Boilermakers, with kickoff set for 3 p.m. on Sept. 16. This game will be televised on the SEC Network. All remaining games will have kick time and TV information selected two weeks in advance – with the exception of Nov. 24 at Arkansas, which has already been picked for CBS and will kick at 1:30 p.m. in Fayetteville, Ark.
The Tiger program is winding down summer school and off-season workouts, and is preparing for the start of fall camp, which begins Aug. 1 in Columbia.
Baseball Seniors Richarz and Villegas Selected as Summer All-Stars
FAYETTE, Mo. – Many collegiate baseball players travel the country to compete in some of the most prestigious summer baseball leagues.
Central Methodist University Baseball seniors Riley Richarz and Fernando Villegas joined the ranks with these players. The athletes that compete in these leagues come from every level of the NCAA as well as from the NAIA.
Richarz has spent the summer down in the South Florida Collegiate League for the Coral Springs Royals. He has been instrumental in the 19 wins so far as he leads the team with a .373 average, which ranks him fifth in the league.
He also represented the Royals in the Summer All-Star Game, and shortly after broke the season stolen base record for the league. Richarz currently has 30 stolen bases to accompany his 32 runs scored with 31 hits.
Villegas has been suiting up for the Henderson Flash in the Ohio Valley League. While becoming a fan-favorite, he was also named to the league’s All-Star Game as he is currently hitting .341 with 29 hits and 16 RBIs.
He is also fourth on the team with a .429 slugging percentage with three homeruns and four doubles. Villegas also sports a .400 on-base-percentage and proves to be a hard out with only 13 strikeouts in nearly 100 plate appearances.
