Sherry Jean Allison, 65, of Mexico, formerly of Vandalia, died at 1:45 a.m., Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, August 4, 2017 at Waters Funeral Home. Her interment of her cremains will take place at a later date in the New Harmony Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, August 4, 2017 at Waters Funeral Home in Vandalia.
She was a Vandalia area resident while growing up and a 1969 Van-Far High School graduate. She entered the nursing field and worked at the Missouri Veteran’s Home in Mexico for many years. Sherry enjoyed Elvis music and his collectibles, going to Branson, country music shows and had played in a bowling league.
She was born September 9, 1951 in Vandalia the daughter of Melvin Kelly and Delores Jean (Goodhart) Schamma.
She married Charles Henry Picton; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include: three sons: Timothy E. Picton, Charles F. Picton both of Mexico; Luke K. Picton of Columbia; two brothers: Butch Schamma of Virginia, Illinois and Danny Schamma of New York; two sisters: Sue Clough of Mexico and Judy Clough of Strafford; eight grandchildren: Zach Picton, Mike Picton, Rodney Picton, Taylor Picton, Dustin Picton, Kristin Picton-Rivera, Tevin Picton and Stormy Picton; nine great-grandchildren: Natalie Picton, Keira Picton, Ahlana Picton, Zane Picton, Macy Picton, Brooke Picton, Sophia Rivera, Chloe Rivera and Victoria Rivera.
She was preceded in death by: parents; and one brother, Roger Schamma.
