Scott R. Smith, 62 years young, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2017, at 12:12 a.m., after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. He died at his home, in Lake Ozark, MO, surrounded by Friends and Family.
Scott was born in Mexico, MO, February 1, 1955, the son of Pleasant R. and Donna E. Smith; brother to Barbara E. Rippel, Columbia, MO, and Pleasant D. Smith, Paris, MO; all who preceded Scott in his passing. He is survived by his brother, Randy J. Smith, Lake Ozark, MO; his niece, Molly J. Rippel, Columbia, MO; and nephews, Ryan D. Rippel, Seattle, WA; and Chase P. Cook, Eldon, MO.
Scott grew up in Mexico, and graduated from Mexico High School in 1973. His activities included Boy Scouts of America, Troop 38; and multiple Sports, including basketball, football, and track. After graduation, Scott attended two years at University of Missouri, Columbia, MO.
For the past 15 years, Scott was employed in the Restaurant and Entertainment tourist industry at Lake of the Ozarks, MO.
Scott will be remembered, by those who knew and loved him, for his outgoing personality, beautiful smile, his “stories”, his laughter, his kindness, and incredible memory. Scott was the greatest Brother and Uncle in the world. He will be missed by many, including his pet cat, “Spotty”, and her Family of kittens, who gave him much comfort over the past several months.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at The First Presbyterian Church, 400 Lakeview Rd., Mexico, Mo, at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, August 12, 2017.
