With challenges lying ahead that include a trip to Kirksville on Aug. 24 for a North Central Missouri Conference contest and the season opener at home on Aug. 21 against Southern Boone, the Mexico varsity volleyball team is well aware of the challenges that lie ahead.
That's why head coach Shayla Cox and the Lady Bulldogs hosted a volleyball jamboree Saturday morning on the Gary Filbert Court. Also in attendance were Montgomery County, Fulton and Brookfield.
This isn't the programs final effort to fine tune their attack before the regular season gets started, though. Instead Mexico is hosting a Volleyball Sports Drink Scrimmage on Aug. 17 at the high school. Admission is one pack of Gatorade and Powerade the team will utilize when playing on the road. Start time for this event is 6 p.m. and format will be best three out of five.
