Nicole Emmons had 16 digs, six sets, five aces and two kills on Monday as the North Callaway varsity volleyball team started 2017 by defeating Russellville at home 25-20, 25-21.

Sydney Harrison also came through for the Ladybirds with 16 digs, five kills, three sets and two aces, Allyson Eichman put up 15 sets, eight digs and one ace and laying down seven digs and two kills was Savannah Littlefield. Madison Davis proved important for the Ladybird's, as well, with 13 digs, Becca Bloss charted seven sets, six digs and an ace and Kathryn Ziese had four digs, three sets and two kills.

"Varsity started their season with a win in two sets. These girls have worked incredibly hard and have amazing attitudes," said head coach Kayla Peterson. "I’m glad we were able to start the season on such a high note. We are improving every day and I can’t wait to see how far they go this season."

North Callaway, 1-0 overall, starts Eastern Missouri Conference action on Thursday at Montgomery County.
