The current varsity softball season didn't start out well for Paris because it allowed four nine runs in the first three innings and then another seven inn the fourth on Wednesday to lose at South Shelby 16-0.
"I was a tough start for our season. South Shelby is a very good all around team. For us it was a great challenge to start our season off with such a high caliber team," said coach Mike Fible. "We learned a lot about our team and the areas of improvement needed. We consistently put the ball in play last night, against a very tough pitcher, unfortunately every ball we put in play seemed to be directly at a south shelby defender."
The Lady Coyotes biggest downfall in this contest was they they were no-hit. The team also made four errors behind pitcher Emma Addie, who gave up 10 earned runs on 13 hits with four walks in four innings in the circle.
"Defensively we defiantly had our mistakes, as every team does early in the season, but we also came up with some big time plays running down balls in gap and being in the correct position," Fible said. "We don't have much time to stop and think about last nights performance as we turn around tonight and face district opponent Cairo (on Thursday)."
Paris, 0-1 overall, was at North Shelby on Tuesday and Knox County on Thursday.
