The North Callaway varsity softball team was in charge from the start on Tuesday against Wright City, posting leads of 5-0 in the first inning and 8-0 in the second on their way to winning 13-1 in five innings.

Because the Ladybird's also outscored Wright City 5-1 between the third and fifth, that allowed Kenzie Ausfahl to earn the decision by allowing no runs on a hit and a walk with three strikeouts in three innings pitched to raise her season record to 2-0. Clara Mosier then stepped into the circle to get the final six outs of the game and gave up one run, zero earned, on a hit with two strikeouts.

Proving just as dominant at the plate for North Callaway was Ellie Eckert at 3-for-3 with three runs and a walk, Lanie Wilson went 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs and Hanna Knipp came in at 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs. Makayla Pennell also went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run.

"We'll find out where we're at after we host Rock Bridge on Wednesday," said coach Brandi Thomsen.

For the game the Ladybird's charted 14 hits and two errors against two hits and five errors for Wright City.

The North Callaway JV, 1-1 overall, was also in action on Tuesday and lost to Wright City 6-0.

The Ladybird's, 3-0 overall, 2-0 Eastern Missouri Conference, host Wellsville-Middletown for a league game on Thursday.
