The ups-and-downs of the Eastern Missouri Conference were never more prevalent than they were on Tuesday at Mark Twain when the Montgomery County varsity softball team found itself trailing 8-5 in the third inning.

The Lady Wildcats solution to this conundrum was to score 13 runs over the course of the next three innings to win by mercy 18-8 in six innings.

"We struggled at the beginning of the game after they scored a few runs and took the lead, but we were able to bounce back and score 11 runs in the fifth and sixth innings to secure the game," said coach Audra hHeimer. "Anna Ford and Jordan Fischer both went 3-for-5 with a double and three RBI. Arie Roden was 2-for-5 with four RBI and Anna Ford was the winning pitcher with five strikeouts.".

As a team Montgomery County posted 17 hits, including four doubles, and drew three walks. The squad also stole five bases.

The Lady Wildcats, 5-0 overall, 2-0 EMO, welcomed Wright City on Thursday and is at Bowling Green on Tuesday for league games.
