After playing there on Thursday, the Paris varsity softball team returned to Knox County on Saturday for a tournament.
The first matchup of the day didn't quite go as planned as the Lady Coyotes lost to Canton, 16-0 in three innings. The bottom line for Paris in this game was that it was held hitless and drew zero walks while allowing 14 runs in the third inning.
In the circle the story was the complete opposite for the Lady Coyotes as Emma Addie allowed 16 runs, three earned, on 10 hits, including seven doubles and two homeruns, and a walk in three innings pitched.
The next contest for Paris at this tournament was a much closer affair that saw the squad end strong, but still lose to Louisiana, 9-6. Guiding the Lady Coyotes to thus 13-hot performance was Mollie Cupp and Elizabeth Cupp, both of which went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run, Erin Heinicke was 2-for-3 with a run and Hannah Mitchell added two hits in two at-bats. Danielle Anderson also had 1-for-2 performance with a steal, Jessie Hoffman had a hit in one trip to the plate and Addie came in at 1-for-3.
Addie also gave up nine runs, eight earned, on 10 hits and two walks in five innings pitched.
Paris, 1-5 overall, was at Salisbury on Monday and on Sept. 11 the Lady Coyotes host Marceline.
