Having just gone 2-1 over the weekend in tournament play, the Paris varsity softball team got back to Lewis and Clark Conference competition on Monday by falling at home to Marceline, 14-0.
With the Lady Coyotes lone run coming in the fourth inning, leading this six-hit effort was Delany Miller with two doubles and a run in two at-bats, Emma Addie went 1-for-2 and going 1-for 3 with one RBI was Erin Heinicke.
Addie also got pinned with the decision for Paris after allowing 12 earned runs on 13 hits and five walks with one strikeout and Mary Stahlschmidt, Hannah Mitchell both went 1-for-3. One reason for all this offense allowed is that the Lady Coyotes uncharacteristically made six errors and struck out five times.
For the year Paris is now 3-8 overall and is led at the plate by Mitchell with a .350 batting average, four walks and three RBI.
This weekend at the Paris Tournament the action commences on field one at 9 a.m. with the host Lady Coyotes facing Clark County and on field two Salisbury plays North Shelby. Community R-6 then takes on Canton on field one at 10:30 a.m. and on field two Madison squares off with South Shelby.
Rules include a time limit of 75 minutes per contest except in the championships, if the score is deadlocked when time expires the international tie breakers rule will come into effect and games will be called a mercy if one team is winning by eight runs after five innings or 12 runs after four innings.
