In an effort to allow high school shooters be seen by college rifle coaches, the University of Memphis hosted the Tiger Open last Saturday.
The event revolved around air rifle shooting and was highlighted by Mexico's Ted Martin, who next competes this weekend at the Bass Pro Classic in Springfield, which is a three-position air rifle match for high school age competitors.
"Ted struggled in smallbore, which he doesn’t have a lot of experience in, but he did really well in air rifle, shooting a 260-24X," said Martin's stepfather Darrell Tucker. "His Air rifle score was actually higher than some of the kids already shooting for college teams. We will be working on his smallbore over the next few weeks and there are a couple of other matches hosted by college teams coming up."
Martin and Tucker are also planning on attending The Montgomery Bell Academy Rifle Classic in Nashville, Tn. on Oct. 7-8.
