CC Rutter, 95, of Mexico, passed away at 9:24 p.m. on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at Pin Oaks Living Center in Mexico.
Visitation is from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Arnold Funeral Home.
CC, son of the late Claude and Beatrice (Goslin) Rutter of Mexico, was born on December 29, 1921. He attended Sims Grade School and graduated from Mexico High School. He was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church from an early age.
CC married Wilma Levingston in 1942. Wilma preceded him in death in December of 1949.
Mr. Rutter was in the U.S. Army from June 1942 until January 1946 and served in the Pacific.
He received his private pilot license in December of 1946 and flew small planes for pleasure until 1994.
CC married Gladys James in October 1952 and would have celebrated his 65th wedding anniversary with her later this month.
CC worked a short time at Montgomery Ward and later for Gradon Burchfield making and installing TV antennas. He installed the very first antenna in Mexico at Erdel’s Hardware Store. He then worked for Marrietta and Weston Refrigeration, followed by Scott Yeargain Appliance from 1950 to October 1953. In 1953 he opened his own business, Mexico Service Company, which later became Rutter TV and Appliance when he got the GE Franchise in 1963.
He was a member of the American Legion, 40 & 8, the V.F.W., and the local EAA Aviation group.
After CC and Gladys retired in 1986, they spent two summers traveling the U.S. in their camper van, and then spent 20 winters (1988-2008) in Apache Junction, Arizona.
CC is survived by his wife, Gladys, and all of his children: Ken Rutter (Doris Bates), Carol Rutter Merrill (Charles E. Merrill), Curtis Rutter (Bobbi Bogart Rutter), and Joy Noorbakhsh (Mansour Noorbakhsh); and by his grandchildren, Paul Rutter, Elizabeth Merrill (Christian Waugh), Charlie C. Merrill, Catherine O’Brien (Michael O’Brien), Jamie Rutter, Charles Rutter, and Joe Noorbakhsh.
Memorial donations may be made to the Hopewell Baptist Church or Rush Hill Community Church. Both may be sent in care of Arnold Funeral Home,425 S. Jefferson, Mexico, MO 65265.
