Few places looked less hospitable than the soccer pitch at Boonville on Tuesday to the Missouri Military Academy varsity soccer team.
Despite the fact the weather and location were both working against them, the Fighting Colonels got past the bad times pretty quickly and moved on to the good by winning 2-0.
"The boys played very well in wet and windy conditions. The first half was a very tight affair with the better chances falling to MMA but the Boonville goalkeeper did well to stop all of the Colonels attempts," said coach Liam Collins. "The second half swung the game in favor of MMA. Jorge Garcia delivered an inch perfect cross from a corner and Donald Williams rose highest to head the ball into the back of the net. We finished the game strong and secured a very good win."
Because the Colonels kept the pressure up after posting their initial score, it wasn't long before Kenny Kazoora capitalized on the chance to double his teams lead by posting goal number two.
MMA, 10-8 overall, finishes the regular season on Thursday at Battle.
