On Thursday at approximately 5:55 p.m., the Mexico Public Safety Department was contacted by the family of William Gary Resa, 81, of Mexico. The family was concerned because Resa had left the home earlier in the day to visit a friend in Independence, Missouri and had apparently never made it and had not returned home.

As MPSD continued to look into Resa’s whereabouts and well-being, it was determined that he had been diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s and had possibly forgotten some medication. It was further determined that Resa’s vehicle had likely been seen in the area of Rocheport, Missouri around 7:52 p.m..

A SILVER alert was initiated and law enforcement in other areas of the state that Resa is known to frequent were helping check for him.

Around 11 p.m., Resa was located by an alert citizen in Callaway County. Resa was still in his vehicle and told the citizen he was lost. The citizen assisted in getting him back to Mexico. Resa was uninjured during the event.
