Mexico Public Safety participated in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday with great success. Cpl. Matt Waller, who was at the fire station Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., said he was surprise at the amount of prescription drugs being turned in due the the cold weather.
But the weather didn't seem to deter the residents from bring in their prescription drugs for disposal. "We collected 322.8 pounds, which is a record for us," said Waller.
Prescription drug take back day gives residents the chance to dispose of any expired prescription drugs they are no longer using.
The DEA will pick up the packed boxes to be incinerated.
