To show appreciation to veterans for their service to the nation, Mexico High School is holding a reception for veterans at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, November 9 in the Sports Complex lobby. This will be a time for fellowship with other veterans and MHS students. Homemade refreshments will be provided by the FCCLA club.
According to a news release from Mexico High School, following the reception, the MHS Social Studies Department is planning a veteran panel discussion to be conducted with sophomore and junior students. It will be held from 9 to 10:15 a.m. The goal of the event is to provide an opportunity for veterans to share their stories, and to give the students a chance to ask questions to the veterans in person.
Any veteran who would be interested in joining should bring the following information to the high school office:
Name of veterans.
Plan to attend veteran reception at 8:30.
Plan to attend veteran panel discuss at 9 a.m.
Branch of military and years of service.
Questions/topics may include: branch of military and years of service; served during war or peacetime; drafted or volunteered to joining military (in volunteer why); location where stationed.
The students will be tasked with having follow-up questions for the panel, all questions will be screened by their social studies teacher.
