A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 2, at 2:00 p.m. at Arnold Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 until the time of service.

Mr. Northcutt was born February 17, 1941 at Audrain Hospital to Harold E. and Virginia (Atkinson) Northcutt.  He grew up on a farm in northern Audrain County and graduated from Beagles Rural School, and from Mexico High School in 1957.

He then attended the University of Missouri in Columbia for two years, majoring in general agriculture.  After becoming interested in aviation, Mr. Northcutt attended Yuengling Flight School in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and was a primary and advanced instrument instructor there.

On October 2, 1960, he married Barbara Kaye Francis, daughter of Bert and Jane Francis of Mexico. They had three children, Wendy, Lori, and Mark.  In January, 1964, he became a pilot with Eastern Airlines and the family moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where he became Captain in 1978.

In 1980, Mr. Northcutt returned to his farm in Mexico, and in 1981, married Virginia Kay (Schanbacher) Fetterhoff.  After Eastern ceased operations, Mr. Northcutt flew as a Captain for ValuJet. During his career as a professional pilot, he flew the Convair 580, McDonnell Douglas DC-9, Boing 727 and 757, and Lockheed Constellation, Electra, and L-1011.  After retiring from flying, he then became a ground school instructor for NATCO in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  He finished his aviation career with UPS as a ground school instructor for 757 military pilots serving the White House.  He retired in 2006.

Mr. Northcutt enjoyed travel, fishing, and hunting.  He loved visiting his children and grandchildren in Georgia and Michigan.  He looked forward to meeting friends for lunch on Wednesdays in Mexico.
