On Tuesday at about 8:43 p.m.hours, Audrain County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the 17000 block of Highway T in Audrain County on the report of a disturbance in which a gunshot had been fired.
Subsequent investigation revealed that during the disturbance, Keith Allen Shaw, 58, of Thompson, physically assaulted a 30-year-old female and discharged a handgun toward her, and later displayed a knife and threatened to stab a 30-year-old male relative. According to a press release from the Sheriff's Department, the female received minor injuries as a result of the physical assault. No other injuries occurred from the incident.
On Wednesday,Shaw was arrested in connection with the assault and members of the Audrain County Sheriff’s Office, East Central Drug Task Force, and Missouri State Highway Patrol executed a search warrant at the Shaw residence.
During the search officers located methamphetamine, pharmaceuticals, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and multiple items of paraphernalia used in the distribution of controlled substances.
Shaw was arrested for First Degree Assault, First Degree Domestic Assault, Armed Criminal Action, Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine), Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Marijuana), Maintaining a Public Nuisance, Possession of a Controlled Substance (Alprazolam), Possession of a Controlled Substance (Diazepam), Possession of a Controlled Substance (Lorazepam), Possession of a Controlled Substance (Oxycodone Hydrochloride), Unlawful use of a weapon by Possession of a firearm and felony controlled substance, Unlawful use of Drug Paraphernalia. Additionally, 21 firearms were seized from the residence.
At press time Shaw was in custody at the Audrain County Jail awaiting formal prosecution and a bond to be set by the Audrain County Circuit Court.
Persons arrested for criminal offenses are merely accused and they are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
