The Adopt-a-Child program at the Laura Miller George Help Center has been granted permission to have a gift tag tree at the local Walmart.

“Due to a change in Walmart policy, our tree with its red and green stars is located in its usual place at the front door of Walmart,,” Kathy Craghead, Adopt-a-Child coordinator, said. “We are very happy about the reconsideration, and the people who worked with us.”

The Help Center is the Salvation Army representative in Audrain County. The partnership between the Salvation Army and Walmart makes the Help Center tree an acceptable charitable activity.

“We have trees at Moser’s Food, Kate’s Hallmark and Melody’s Quality Jewelry which will remain in place,” Craghead said. “Now, with the addition of a tree at Walmart, shopping for needy children becomes a little easier.”
