As the host of its 62nd Annual varsity basketball tournament, the Centralia girls began by getting edged out by Sturgeon on Dec. 4 prior to Wednesday's second round game against Hallsville.
Even though the Lady Indians took a rather aggressive approach to handling the Lady Panthers, first year head coach Rebecca Schemmer and her team were far from shook. Instead, Centralia was able to dominate Hallsville to the tune of 57-37.
"We played really well on the defensive end and were all over the glass on both ends," Schemmer said. "We had a little trouble the first half handling Hallsville's full court pressure but finally was able to have patience and get the ball up the court."
The Lady Panthers were led by Olivia Eikel with 16 points, Mary Kate Bennett scored 11 and Carter Simkins had nine points.
On Friday in the title game Boonville played Macon, North Callaway faced Sturgeon in the game for third place Centralia played in the consolation contest.
