When the Montgomery County varsity boys basketball team made the trip over to Silex on Friday, while it was an Eastern Missouri Conference contest, these two squads will more than likely be on completely opposite ends of the standings.

That made the Wildcats a definite favorite to win this game coming in, and based on the 18 points and 10 rebounds Chris Harrison had combined with Aubrey Nelson's 15 points and six assists, the Owls probably shouldn't have had much of a chance. Yet, it wasn't until the fourth quarter that Montgomery County finally pulled away for the 780-52 victory.

"Silex was able to hang around in the game for a good ways into the thrrd quarter with some hot shooting from outside," said coach Scott Kroeger. "My players did a great job of remaining calm and staying patient offensively, as well as applying pressure and making Silex take contested shots which allowed us to pull away for the 78-52 win."

For Montgomery County Cole Curry Also scored 14 with 11 boards.

The Wildcats, 5-1 overall, 1-0 EMO, hosts Wellsville-Middletown on Friday.
