The varsity boys basketball schedule first year athletic director and current Missouri Military Academy head coach Kevin Bissmeyer inherited must be designed to show the world exactly what he's working with.

That's because, after just two home games, the Colonels have five straight road contests, the last of which is Dec. 19 at Kingsville. The second of those matchups in unfriendly confines came on Dec. 7 at Wright City, and while Gabirel Penha did have 28 points, six rebounds, and three steals and Victor Leon came through with five points, three bvoards and a block, MMA still found itself on the wrong side of a 56-48 decision.

"It was an ugly game that saw MMA score a season low two points in the first quarter. In the end we lost a sloppy game that saw only one player score in double figures for the Colonels," said Bissmeyer. "We just didnt have it. Give Wright City credit. They came out and got a win and did what they were supposed to. We need to be more aggressive and look to create better scoring opportunities. We didn't play with very much heart. Gabriel Penha showed a lot of guts with the way he played out there."

While the Colonels are now 3-3 after six games played, Kingsville appears to be on a four game losing streak according to maxpreps.com. This includes home defeats to Archie 60-40 on Dec. 12 and Crest Ridge 75-42 on Nov. 28, as well as road losses at Leeton 76-45 on Dec. 1 and Ballard 59-39 on Nov. 21.

Against Leeton one of the issues the Tigers had was Caleb Cramer hit 12-of-23 field goals to score 29 for the game. Kingsville had a similar dilema against Crest Ridge as Hayden Ridge made nine shots from the floor to score 20.

That means if the Colonels stick to their season averages of 57 points, 11.2 assists and 40 percent from the field per game, they should be alright. Quality defense certainly couldn't hurt, though, which currently includes 29.2 rebounds, 7.2 steals and 5.8 blocks a game. As for the rest fo MMA, look for Pedro Da Rocha, Pedro Risovas, Omena Obervwu, Nyamku Chingun, Donald Williams or Bruno Pozzani as possible break out stars depending on a wealth of different circumstances.
