Little Dixie Fire Protection District Station 1 was dispatched to a structure fire on Audrain Road 834, south of Mexico, at 4:39 p.m, Wednesday at the Ann Barnes property.
Upon arrival firefighters found a two-story residential house with heavy smoke coming from the eaves and windows.
Firefighters made an aggressive attack to the structure with an internal attack to the first and second floors, according to Little Dixie Chief Ken Hoover.
The house received heavy fire and smoke damage. The family was not home at the time the fire started. According to Chief Hoover, a neighbor called the fire department.
The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time but appears to be accidental in nature.
Little Dixie units cleared the scene at 8:31 p.m.
Little Dixie Station 1, 3 and 4 responded to the emergency with a total of 20 firefighters and five pieces of fire apparatus.
There were no injuries from the fire.
