Wanda Earlene Whisler, 86, of Mexico, MO passed away at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at SSM St. Mary’s Hospital -Audrain.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Arnold Funeral Home in Mexico.  Visitation is Tuesday from 10:00 – 11:00 at the funeral home.  Graveside services will be Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Fairview Cemetery in Unionville, Iowa.

Earlene was born December 23, 1931 in Cincinnati, Iowa,  the daughter of Lee and Edna (Henkle) Thomasson. On August 13, 1955 she married Denny R. Whisler at her parents home in Cincinnati, IA by his uncle Rev Murt Whisler.

She devoted much of her time to her children and activities at school.  She was a member of the Mexico United Methodist Church and member of Women’s Auxillary of American Legion.  In addition, she was an avid knitter and quilter.  She and her husband Denny traveled extensively after his retirement, including numerous Trax to Adventure Caravans to the USA, Canada and Mexico.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter Almeda (Dan) Niederschulte of Keokuk, IA, a son Larry (Jina) Whisler of Mexico; five grandchildren, Christopher (Ruth Walsh) Niederschulte of Galveston, Dawn (Mitch) Trujillo of Topeka, KS, Leslie (Chris) Foland of Raytown, MO, Brie (Tyler) Weaver of Bloomington, IL and Laura (Kalip Davidson) Whisler of Mexico, MO; two great-grandchildren, Cruz Trujillo of Topeka, KS and Ivy Weaver of Bloomington, IL; a brother Elvin Thomasson of Centerville, IA; two sisters, Judith (Kenny) Stills of New Virginia, IA and Janice Seddon of Blue Grass, IA and numerous nieces and nephews.
