When the Community R-6 varsity girls basketball team took a 16-9 lead at the end of the first quarter at home against Silex on Tuesday, the outlook was bright and it only got brighter when the Lady Trojans outscored their guests 7-4 in the second.

But, when the team claimed the third 21-5, the crowd went wild because it was Senior Night and that allowed the upperclassmen to finish out the night by nailing down the fourth 9-2 and defeat Silex 53-20.

"My three seniors all scored in the contest as Alissa Curtis had six points, Chelsea Hoyt scored five and Bethany Schmidt added three points," said coach Bob Curtis.

Conducting this offensive orchestra for CR-6 was Natalie Thomas with 14 points, seven steals and six assists, Delaney Bowers charted 10 points, four steals, two boards and an assist and Brianna Beamer posted nine points nine points and a steal. Chelsea Hoyt and Alissa Curtis also came through with seven and six points, respectively, Bethany Schmidt and Sadie Hoyt added three points each and Taren Clark had a point.

Two major factors in this contest is that CR-6 made 24 steals and had 16 assists. Silex also got all of its points from its bench and only pulled down 16 rebounds and made no steals and one block.

The Lady Trojans, 15-6 overall, 8-0 Eastern Missouri Conference, have a league game at Montgomery County today.
