Last year, after the Wellsville-Middletown varsity boys basketball team spent the season trying to become a half-court, defensive-minded program under first-year head coach Steve Gschwender after previously executing a very different style of play, the baseball team went to the class 1 title game.
This year was another story all together, though, because not only did the Tigers have the type of regular season that included making it to the championships of the Clopton tournament, but they were also district runner ups and finished the 2017-18 campaign with a record of 11-16 overall.
"The Clopton tournament was a highlight for us," said Gschwender. "We lose three good seniors, Tyler Bunch, Nick Ebers and Adam Maylee. We will miss them. Overall, we had a good season."
