While most other varsity athletic programs were cancelling or postponing their scheduled contests because of the rain, the Mexico varsity boys tennis home meet on Monday against Hannibal had the good fortune to be able to move to the indoor facility at the Missouri Military Academy.

Once the venue was changed and the action began the Bulldogs luck good fortunes ran out rather quickly as they found themselves losing to the Pirates 12-0.

"Overall I feel that we had a decent showing for our first match. Having been hampered with rain most of last week our team hadn't been able to play since Wednesday, March 21," said Mexico coach Brad Smith. "Most of the games played went to deuce and our team had trouble finishing those points off. We will continue to improve throughout the season and we will hopefully beat Hannibal when we face them again at the end of the season."

The Bulldogs, 0-1 overall, next take the court Thursday at MMA, on April 3 the team has a North Central Missouri Conference contest at Marshall and on April 4 Mexico hosts Helias for a non-league matchup.
