With a format that consists of each of the four teams being represented by its five best singles players, the Missouri Military Academy's varsity tennis teams trip to the Marshall Tournament on Saturday could've been more productive.

That's because, even though the Colonel's are much more familiar with singles than double play, last weekend the team still didn't adapt to this style of play like some thought they might. Instead, the squad was defeated by Marsheall 3-2, Smith Cotton 4-1 and Fulton 5-0

"Against three quality teams, I thought we played good tennis for most of the tournament.  Playing at number three, Cadet Bruno Pozzani had a really good tournament, defeating two of his three opponents. Bruno continues to impress me with his hard work and effort," said coach Mike Pemberton. "After playing really well against Marshall, we had some trouble maintaining our focus during the Smith-Cotton match. In the afternoon, we played the overall winner of the tournament, Fulton HS."
